If your child has never experienced an exhilarating rope-climb, a solo kayak race, or Sabbath under the stars, this is the summer to discover Camp Laurelwood in North Madison, Connecticut. We are the only Jewish community overnight camp in Connecticut. With a 73 year track record of creating life-long Jewish summer memories and friendships, we are everything you and your kids dreamed camp could be. From the shy first timer to the pre-teen veteran, Laurelwood campers ages 7 through 15 develop self-confidence, make lifelong friendships, master new skills and absorb Jewish values, while having extreme fun! Founded in 1937 on 140 magnificent wooded acres, Camp Laurelwood has created indelible Jewish summer memories for thousands of children.
Facilities
Campers live and play in well-maintained and recently renovated facilities including comfortable, cozy bunks with electricity and bathrooms, convenient shower cabins, the Mess Hall, Rec Hall, Kosher kitchen, the covered “Chuppah”, Nature Hut, Arts and Crafts Studio and our air conditioned computer/game room. Camp Laurelwood encompasses 140 scenic and wooded acres in North Madison, Connecticut with a recreational boating lake, fishing lake, two swimming pools, tennis courts and spacious sports fields.
Directions
Camp Laurelwood is located on 140 acres in the middle of North Madison Ct. located off of Exit 61 , I-95. Camp Laurelwood is easily accessible from New York, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Hartford and New Haven areas.

From New York area:
I-95 North to Exit 61. At the end of the exit, turn left onto Route 79N. Go to the Traffic circle (approximately 7 miles). Bear right onto Route 80E. Go one mile. Take a right onto Summer Hill Road. Camp is on the right hand side of the road. Look out for camp signs on Route 80.
From Hartford area:
Take I-91 South to Route 9S (exit 22). Continue to Exit 9.Turn right at the end of the exit onto 81S. Continue on 81S to Junction of 81 and 80.The camp is on Summer Hill Road, which is a left hand turn off of Route 80.
In the Community
Camp Laurelwood enjoys the support of the community with an active Board of Directors, volunteers, parent and alumni network. Synagogues, Jewish Federations, Foundations and Jewish Community Centers recognize the role Camp Laurelwood can play in building and strengthening Jewish identity at an early age. Camp Laurelwood is an agency of the Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven and is accredited by the American Camping Association and the State of Connecticut.

Laurelwood Legacy / Alumni
The history and legacy of Camp Laurelwood is comprised of the life experiences that thousands of campers and staff have shared over the past 70 years. Whether it was scoring the winning basket in the big game, a first crush, or that moment of learning to solve problems independently, the countless memories generated by spending one many summers are the best representation of our history.
Camp Laurelwood alumni are physicians, accountants, attorneys, actors, entrepreneurs, writers, professors, sales professionals and physical therapists. They live across the US, in Europe and Israel. When Camp Laurelwood alumni get together, the common experiences create an energy that transcends the differences in their ages or number of years at camp.
Considering a summer camp experience is a significant decision for parents and children. The athletic fields, swimming pools, lakes, and bunks all start to look the same after a while, so what makes Camp Laurelwood different? We think that difference is found in the passion of our staff, the commitment of our Board of Directors (the majority of whom are alumni), and the pure joy experienced by our campers every summer.
